I love to see what others love. I scour through Amazon reviews before I buy anything. But really, I love my friend’s recommendations the most. If you love it, and I love you, then maybe it’s something that will be full of awesome.
There’s a lot of these kinds of posts on the web, and as I’ve met and connected with more bloggers, I’ve gotten to read reviews which have led me to lovely handmade shops, new albums and artists, wonderful books, blogs, and television. I’ve found products I love and hairstyles and recipes worth trying out.
My friend Anne did a post this month (actually last month since I’m a slacker) on her November favorites and linked up with Leigh. I thought I’d join in the fun this month and round-up some of the things I’m into.
So read along and I’d love to hear what you love in the comments. I’m always looking for new awesome. And if you blog, make sure to link up!
This month I’ve taken a little self-made challenge. To get dressed every day, put on makeup, and be ready for whatever may come my way. I’ll be blogging about that more in the future, I even took full length pictures of myself y’all, but for now let me tell you my new love.
I am a makeup lover. I love to try new things and colors and shades. This month I’ve felt festive and fun and decided to give red lips a try. I’ve used red lipstick before with mixed results and I’ve come to realize the key is the perfect shade. For me, this means a blue red with no orange tint.
I love MAC Ruby Woo and Russian Red. They work on everybody and with a little lip liner, they last forever. Red lips make me feel a little more daring, a teeny bit artsy, and kinda feisty.
I just started reading A Long Obedience in the Same Direction: Discipleship in an Instant Society. We’re reading it as a church and I’m liking it so far. I always read more than one book at a time. Usually, it’s about 5-8.
This month I’m also reading and rereading Old Friend from Far Away: The Practice of Writing Memoir, Walking on Water, The Glass Castle, The Forgotten Garden, Every Body Matters and Hailey Morgans, The No Brainer Blog e-book. So far, I’m loving them all. That NEVER happens.
I love to find new music and I’ve been obsessively listening to Tsh’s brothers playlists. She confided that all the cool music she finds is often from him and I agree. He’s got some great playlists going. I listen to Reading and Writing all the time.
I also still have a major music crush on Josh Garrels. I love the lyrics and his voice. He is almost always playing around this house at least once a day.
Here’s another fun band I am really enjoying.
The Milk Carton Kids.
I am not a big tv watcher. I’ll go months and months without watching a single show but when I do get into one, I tend to watch the entire season in one sitting. Seriously, it’s a problem. I know not to watch anything unless I have a bit of time to linger.
November holds the second anniversary when my dad passed away and I needed a bit of a retreat. I dived into Hart of Dixie because the internet buzz said it was very similar in style to Gilmore Girls, which I own and watch again every year. I ended up watching the entire first season of Hart of Dixie in two days.
I also love Once Upon a Time, which we watch for family night each week. I love that the kids enjoy it and I’m not dying of boredom from kids shows.
After I watch OUAT, I head over to Megan’s blog for her weekly overview of the themes, plot lines, characters, and questions which arise in each episode. It’s so fun to read all the theories and to pick up on things I usually miss with my three-year old climbing on me. When there aren’t any new episodes we also do these things for family night.
